When I first heard about home working, I thought it was a scam. Can you imagine a company willing to pay me to work from home? All I had to do was talk to customers who called me and help them save money by finding the best deal. It sounded too good to be true. However, a friend reassured me that this was legitimate and on her recommendation, I applied online.
The application form was practical and straight forward. I didn’t have to wait long before the lovely Marco called to have a chat with me via video conferencing. This was followed by a very interesting and informative telephone interview. Within a couple of weeks, I was offered a position as a Reservation Sales Representative. I would be joining ‘The Ship’ as a member of the first ‘Class of 2015’.
The first three weeks of being aboard were fast and intense. Who would have thought that the wonderful Katy Harding could keep our class on track and deal with the huge amount of questions we ‘newbies’ fired at her constantly. It was clear from the very beginning that Enterprise Rent-A-Car was the company for me. The passion and commitment shown by every individual we had contact with was honest and addictive. Before long, my confidence was rising as we were all treated with respect understanding and empathy. There was no negativity or frustration from Katy when we made mistakes, only support and encouragement. ‘We have all had to learn’, was the patient response she often gave us. Going on to the live calls was the most daunting experience, and I don’t mind admitting that I was terrified. But with Katy supporting us, we were soon confidently answering calls and making reservations.
Corporate calls were a huge challenge, as there is quite a lot to learn. Again, the amazing Katy took time to fully explain all of our questions, whilst reassuring us of the full support we would receive from our line managers. My line manager is the fabulously upbeat and positive Carly, her weekly meetings with me were informative, constructive and very reassuring. It’s a pleasure to work somewhere with such a transparent culture, and Carly has been a tower of strength from our first meeting. Gill was my appointed ‘buddy,’ and was ever so understanding with my questions and concerns, nothing was too much bother for her and if I am ever able to be a ‘buddy’ for a new starter then I will take Gill as my example.
As I approach my sixth month with Enterprise, I can look back and see just how far I have travelled on my journey with ‘The Ship’. My confidence has grown so much, I really enjoy talking to customers, and the feeling at the end of a successful call is second to none.
Your confidence is just one of the things that will improve while working at Enterprise. You’ll also learn a broad range of skills, meet great people and reach your potential with the support of your colleagues. So what are you waiting for? Search for roles in your city here.
